Jesik Consulting supported the Dawson Mine project by preparing a surface water management plan focused on responsible stormwater control, downstream resource protection, and long-term site performance. The plan was developed to help manage stormwater leaving the site in a way that aligns with historical pre-development conditions and applicable local and state requirements.
Jesik evaluated existing drainage patterns and developed an integrated stormwater strategy for multiple runoff sources across the site, including offsite runoff, operational-area runoff, and runoff generated within onsite work areas. The team used standard engineering methods and modeling to support design decisions, manage peak flows, and demonstrate compliance with stormwater performance objectives.
A key part of the plan included engineered drainage channels, diversion channels, conveyance features, and culvert crossings designed to safely move stormwater, reduce erosion potential, and maintain drainage continuity beneath access routes. Energy dissipation and erosion control measures were also incorporated in steeper areas to reduce flow velocities and support long-term channel stability.
The stormwater strategy included detention and sedimentation controls to moderate peak flows, support water quality, and reduce sediment transport before runoff is released through stabilized pathways and vegetated areas. Jesik also incorporated a contained contact-water management concept for operational areas, helping protect water quality by capturing and managing runoff associated with industrial activity.
This project reflects Jesik’s ability to support complex site development with practical, compliance-focused stormwater solutions. By combining drainage analysis, engineered conveyance design, erosion control planning, and long-term reclamation considerations, Jesik helped create a surface water management plan built for responsible performance throughout the project lifecycle.
